Quelques points intéressants sur l'utilité de faire attention à son environnement, l'utilisation des téléphones, mp3 etc...
Top Ten Tips For Teens : Distractions
1) When someone asks you for directions, be sure to keep safe distance and DO NOT turn your back to the person. An attacker will try to get you to turn your back in order to execute their attack.
2) Be careful when texting as it takes your attention away from your surroundings. Attackers look for potential victims who are distracted and not aware of their surroundings.
3) When walking down the street, if someone asks you for the time and you have either a watch or cell phone, be sure to keep at safe distance and don’t look down at watch or cell phone. Bring arm up so you can keep an eye on them while giving the time.
4) MP3 players/IPods are one of the greatest inventions in the world for attackers. When you are using them you have no awareness of anything around you, making you an excellent target for crime or attack. Only use these devices when you are in environment with limited opportunity for attack like at home or at the gym.
5) When a car pulls up to the curb and someone asks for directions keep at a safe distance. Quite often the person in the car will act completely lost or they will talk in low voice which is a good way to distract you to get closer to the car. Most people are polite and helpful and do not think of potential hazards before helping.
6) If confronted by someone, a good distraction technique to use is to talk to the attacker and in the middle of the sentence, execute your strike if it is warranted. When you speak, people listen which allows your first strike to be more effective.
7) Something as simple as someone dropping a book as you walk by could be a distraction. Again, attackers know that most people will be overly polite and they can take advantage of that.
8) In the area of physical self defense, any motion towards the eyes can provide an excellent distraction in order to setup your bigger, more effective strikes.
9.) If an attacker is right in your face and making threats, looking behind them can act as a simple distraction which will allow you to execute strikes while they turn to look.
10.) One day just make note of all the times someone distracts you and think if you were an attacker how you would attack yourself. This will open your eyes to many opportunities an attacker has.
